Topic: E-waste Management and Technology Sustainability
The United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) is the world’s highest-level decision-making body for matters related to the environment, with a universal membership of all 193 Member States. It sets the global environmental agenda, provides overarching policy guidance, and defines policy responses to address emerging environmental challenges. It undertakes policy review, dialogue and the exchange of experiences, sets the strategic guidance on the future direction of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), and fosters partnerships for achieving environmental goals and resource mobilization.

World Health Organization (WHO)
Topic: Addressing health security in times of conflict
Founded in 1948, WHO is the United Nations agency that connects nations, partners and people to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable – so everyone, everywhere can attain the highest level of health. WHO leads global efforts to expand universal health coverage. We direct and coordinate the world’s response to health emergencies. And we promote healthier lives – from pregnancy care through old age. Our Triple Billion targets outline an ambitious plan for the world to achieve good health for all using science-based policies and programmes.
Direction:
- How to increase access to resources (clean water, sanitation, food, electricity)
- Treating injuries caused by war
- How to provide assistance for those with mental health issues (Depression, anxiety, PTSD)
- Displacement as a result of war and its impact on citizens’ access to healthcare & and medication (Ex. citizens not being able to access medication for chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular disease)

Legislative Yuan
Topic: Addressing health security in times of conflict
The Legislative Yuan is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of China (Taiwan) located in Taipei. The Legislative Yuan is composed of 113 members, who are directly elected for four-year terms by the people of Taiwan through a parallel voting system. The Constitution of the Republic of China provides that the Legislative Yuan shall be the supreme legislative organization of the State, to be constituted of legislators elected by the people, and it shall exercise legislative power on behalf of the people. In terms of its competence, power, and function, the Legislative Yuan is equivalent to a parliament in other democracies.

Q: Will we get any certification for participation?
A: Participation certificates will be given to every delegate attending all committees during the closing ceremony.

Q: Can I still register if I don’t have an advisor that could supervise me from school?
A: If you don't have a supervisor available from school, you can register your parents as your supervisor.

Q: Does my supervisor have to stay with me during the events?
A: Considering that some supervisors may not be able to stay with the delegates throughout the whole conference, we will not require the supervisor to stay. However, we recommend class of 2029 - 2030 students (Grade 6 and 7 students) inform their supervisors of their locations during free time.

Q: When is the registration deadline?
A: The registration deadline will be 1/10/2024. We encourage students to fill out the registration form before December 13 (12/13/2023) for a higher possibility of getting their preferred country.

Q: Are position papers mandatory?
A: Position papers are not mandatory, but do take in mind that position papers can enable you to qualify for the position paper awards. By that, we encourage every delegate to submit a position paper to better understand the committee topics and showcase their skills. Additional information will be answered in future posts, the conference booklet, and the official website.

Q: Under what circumstances will I be disqualified?
A: We strongly oppose any form of violence. If someone reports any form of violent act during the competition, the secretary team will contact parents, supervisors, and schools after clarification, and consider giving penalties. The secretary team has the right to disqualify students from activities and prohibit students from participating in any KSMUN-related activities in the future.
